A singer, a composer and even an actor, Phil Collins is also well known as the drummer of progressive rock band Genesis.

Born and raised in London, Phil Collins has been playing drums since the age of 5, at first with a toy drum kit he received as a Christmas gift, then with bigger and bigger professional drum sets that his parents bought him as his technique grew. As a teenager he had his first experiences with bands and as an actor. In 1970 Phil Collins began his long career with Genesis, initially as a drummer and backing vocalist, and becoming lead singer of the English band five years later, after Peter Gabriel's departure.
Phil Collins began a solo career in the 1980s, releasing many successful albums and pop hits which have always reached the top of the charts. Even as a singer, the role of drums has always been fundamental in his music, with original drum beats even in the most pop songs. Phil Collins has also played drums with English prog-jazz band Brand X.
